About Muro Alto / Porto de Galinhas

In Muro Alto the sea has two states through the day. At high tide, the water comes in warm and gentle, almost touching the sand in front of the stays. At low tide, it pulls back hundreds of metres and uncovers a garden of reefs: clear-water natural pools where you can walk, float and watch fish without straying from the shore.

It's the calm side of Porto de Galinhas — without the bustle of the centre, without towers, with the line of foam breaking far off where the reef ends. We chose this stretch because it keeps, better than any other, one simple promise: waking up with the sea right there, no middlemen.

What to know before you come

What the sea is like

On the Muro Alto side the water is warm and calm: the reef breaks offshore and leaves the shore protected, with no strong current. At low tide, natural pools form for walking.

It's an ideal sea for swimming and for kids. The natural pools appear twice a day and the timing shifts with the lunar cycle — it's worth checking the tide table to pick the best time of day.

When to go

Sun and heat all year round. The best window for the natural pools is September to March, when the sea is calmest.

December to February is high season: more people, higher prices. September–October and March–April bring good weather with fewer crowds. The rainy season (May–July) brings short downpours, not all-day rain.

How to get there

Recife airport (REC) is the gateway to the destination. Transfer can be arranged on request.

From Recife you can take a private transfer, a shared shuttle, or rent a car. Muro Alto is signposted from the PE-09; the last stretch enters through the complex's internal road. There are also regular transfers to central Porto.

What's nearby

Central Porto de Galinhas is 8 km away: restaurants, a craft market and jangada rides to the natural pools.

Maracaípe, the surf beach, is about 12 km south. Muro Alto itself is residential and quiet, meant for disconnecting. For eating out or shopping, central Porto is the go-to.
